About the Vets

Ellis Farstvedt

Dr. Ellis G. Farstvedt, DVM, MS, Diplomate ACVS, heads up CSR Equine Medical Center. Dr Farstvedt is a regionally renowned board certified surgeon. He is not only resident surgeon at the CSR Equine Medical Center, but heads up their extraordinary team of veterinarians. He graduated from Oregon State University in 2001. American College of Veterinary Services CertifiedIn 2005, he was awarded a master’s degree in clinical sciences from and completed a three-year residency in equine surgery at Colorado State University. His clinical interests are in orthopedic surgery, minimally invasive surgeries (i.e. arthroscopy and laparoscopy), upper respiratory surgery and lameness.

Rod Warren

Dr. Rod Warren, DVM, is a nationally recognized expert on equine reproduction and artificial insemination, lameness and performance. He received his doctorate in veterinary medicine from Kansas State University. With more than 35 years of experience in equine medicine, Dr. Warren has with worked with this nation’s leading Quarter Horse and Thoroughbred breeding farms including Vessels Stallion Farm in Southern California where he managed the breeding program for legendary stallions such as First Down Dash, Easy Jet and Beduino. His medical practice also took him to Lexington, Kentucky were he focused on reproductive services, racing performance and sales readiness for clients that included Keeneland, Taylor Made Farms other famous Thoroughbred operations.

Lisa Baller

Dr. Lisa Baller, DVM, CVA (Certified Veterinary Acupuncturist), has special interests in lameness, sports medicine, reproductive services, acupuncture, preventative care and alternative therapies. Dr. Baller graduated from Colorado State University in 2003 and has been practicing in the Gallatin Valley ever since. She is a registered USEF (United States Equestrian Federation) veterinarian for approved rated hunter/jumper shows. She competes in hunter/jumper with her Thoroughbreds and Warmbloods.

Mandi Holland

Dr. Mandi L. Holland, DVM (Doctor of Vetrinary Medicine), is a lead vet for CSR Equine’s Sports Medicine Team. Mandi has extensive experience in sports medicine and lameness honed by her active involvement in rodeo. Dr. Holland is licensed and skilled in equine acupuncture and wellness techniques. She is a Montana native and received her DVM from Colorado State University. Her experience includes having served as a veterinarian at Turf Paradise Race Track in Arizona.
