Dr. Rod Warren joins Veterinarian Team at CSR Equine Medical Center

Spring Ranch announced
recently that Rod Warren,
DVM, of Bozeman, has joined
its CSR Equine Medical
Center, a state-of-art medical
and surgical center serving
southwest Montana and the
Rocky Mountain West. In
announcing the appointment,
Gary Metcalf, General
Manager of Copper Spring
Ranch, said, “Dr. Warrenʼs
addition will help us continue
to meet the growing needs of
Gallatin Valley and beyond.”
Dr. Rod Warren has more
than 35 years experience
in equine medicine, with
a particular focus on
reproductive/AI services
having worked with some
of the nationʼs most notable
farms and bloodlines. He
began his career in Southern
California as a veterinary
consultant in general health
and reproductive services
to some of the countryʼs
leading Quarter Horse Farms,
including Vessels Stallion
Farm. He managed breeding
programs for legendary
stallions such as First Down
Dash, Easy Jet and Beduino.
After 11 years in California,
he moved to Lexington,
KY, where he established
a practice focusing on
reproductive services, racing
performance and sales
readiness. His clients have
included Keeneland, Taylor
Made Farms, as well as other
legendary thoroughbred farms
and sales companies. For the
past five years, Dr. Warren
has been in private practice
in Bozeman. Dr. Warren
received his doctorate in
veterinary medicine from
Kansas State University.
“Dr. Warren brings to CSR
Equine Medical Center more
experience in reproductive/
AI services than any other
veterinarian in Montana,” said
Metcalf. “Additionally, his
experience working with race
horses in Kentucky adds to our
teamʼs impressive knowledge
base regarding lameness and
performance.”
Dr. Ellis Farstvedt, DVM,
MS, Diplomate ACVS, a
regionally renowned board
certified surgeon, was recently
named managing veterinarian
of CSR Equine Medical
Center. He is a pioneer in
laparoscopic and arthroscopic
surgical techniques. The
practice also includes Lisa
Baller, DVM, certified
veterinary acupuncturist, who
focuses on horse medicine and
alternative care; and Mandi
Holland, DVM, also a certified
veterinary acupuncturist, who
focuses on sports medicine and
lameness.
“We have assembled
a world class team of
veterinarians who also happen
to be passionate and skilled
equestrians to serve ranchers,
breeders, competitors and all
other horse lovers in the area,”
said Metcalf. CSR Equine
Medical Center also partners
with fellow veterinarians as
a regional referral hospital
throughout the West, including
the Rocky Mountain States,
California, Arizona and Texas.
Located just west of
Four Corners, Bozeman, CSR
Equine Medical Center is open
to the public and combines

medical expertise in surgery,
reproductive services, sports
medicine/performance, and
general health and preventative
